Riccardo Previdi (Milan, Italy, 1974) studied architecture and visual arts. His artistic investigation probes the possibilities and limits of technological/scientific thought, laying bare the complex mechanisms hidden behind the objects and images that surround us in our daily lives. Previdi’s work records, at times amplifying, the surfeit of images and forms produced in by society and questions modernity’s promises of progress and social redemption. Riccardo Previdi’s works have been exhibited at the Villa Croce, Genoa, Italy, at the Italian Cultural Institute, New York, ICI New York, U.S., at Marta Herford, Herford, Germany, at De Vleeshal, Middelburg, U.S., Manifesta 7, Rovereto, Trento, Bolzano, at the Triennale I in Turin, the Biennial of Moscow, Russia, at the Museion, Bolzano, and Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo, among others. In 2001, he moved to Berlin, where he made the Green Light Pavilion, an exhibition structure for temporary solo and collective exhibitions. In his years in Germany, he worked with the galleries Iris Kadel, Karlsruhe, and Sommer & Kohl, Berlin. Since 2016, Previdi has been living in Merano (BZ). Since 2018, he has been teaching at the faculty of Design and Arts at the Free University of Bolzano. The artist is represented by Galleria Francesca Minini, Milan, Italy.
